I Got A Monster Documentary

The documentary based on I Got A Monster will be released in March 2023. I was an executive producer on the Kevin Abrams-directed documentary and appear in the documentary. I also conducted numerous interviews featured in the documentary, provided research, and helped craft its narrative.

Video Installations

Using body worn camera footage, surveillance footage, and excerpts from I Got a Monster, I created a five-part video installation for 2020’s “The People United” group exhibition at Current Space, curated by Casey McKeel and Teri Henderson.

In 2021, CulturalDC presented “As An Enemy,” a multichannel installation, combining excerpts from I Got a Monster with body worn camera footage annotated with details about the nature and extent of the crimes by police shown in the footage. “As An Enemy” was curated by Teri Henderson and the annotated videos were developed with writer, podcaster, and digital archivist Sean McTiernan.

To make the art as accessible as possible, both installations could be viewed from the street.

Artist Statement

“The shocking body camera and surveillance footage used in the short films was evidence in court that I obtained. But it should be available to everyone to see, not just reporters. For me, this project is an exercise in journalism but also in simple transparency—something police in the U.S. are allergic to. This combination of images provides a sense of the immediate concerns about police corruption and its long tail which stretches back decades—and made someone such as Eddie Conway [featured in one of the videos] a political prisoner.”

Mowder Oyal Videos

For the free jazz-meets-hardcore band Mowder Oyal, I created a trilogy of music videos exploring antifascist sentiments in genre cinema.
